This is the necessary first step. Right now writers don't need any other commitment than that. But it has to be done or there's nothing else. We start with the short story because it's the easiest to reinvent.

We had a lot of very good writing in the ULA, along with some that wasn't. What we had though lacked focus. It wasn't recognizable as from a particular "school." It didn't stand out. The entire campaign lacked focus-- which was my fault, as I designed it.
The question is whether writers can adapt. Maybe not.
